Keyboarding Without Tears (KWT) from Learning Without Tears® is a web-based curriculum for grades K–5 that teaches typing, general computer readiness, digital citizenship and online test prep. Promoted as a first step of digital learning, KWT teaches children the skills they will need to type fluently, learn computer functions, format text and discover how to interact in many online environments.
The 1st benefit of becoming efficient at typing is SAVING TIME.
- Although it take time to learn and become efficient at typing, once your child has mastered this skill, they will drastically cut down the amount of time they spend completing homework assignments.
- A good expectation of how many words per minute (WPM) your child should be able to type is to multiply their grade level by 5 (i.e., 6th grade student x 5 WPM = 30 WPM). One study found that a 6th grade student composing text averages 9 WPM and 15 WPM when copying text.
