About Me
Kendal is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA) and National Certified Counselor (NCC) who is passionate about helping children, adolescents, young adults, parents, and families navigate life's challenges. She believes every person has a meaningful story and approaches counseling with compassion, empathy, and unconditional positive regard. Kendal values the collaborative relationship between counselor and client, empowering individuals to recognize their strengths and move toward healing at their own pace.
Kendal specializes in Play Therapy, with a focus on Child-Centered Play Therapy and prescriptive play therapy techniques. She also incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Attachment-Based Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Family Systems approaches into her work. Her client-centered approach emphasizes creating a safe, welcoming environment where clients feel seen, heard, and valued. She has additional training in sand tray therapy, parent coaching, trauma-informed care, emotional regulation, and child development.
Before becoming a counselor, Kendal worked as a Child Advocate Manager, partnering with multidisciplinary teams to advocate for abused, neglected, and abandoned children involved in dependency court. She also led volunteers who supported children removed from unsafe home environments. This experience deepened her passion for serving families and strengthened her belief in the power of advocacy, connection, and community.
Kendal earned a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University, graduating with High Distinction, and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology: Christian Counseling from Liberty University, graduating summa cum laude. She continues to pursue advanced training in Play Therapy, trauma-informed approaches, and Narrative Therapy.
