Need an ASD diagnosis for ABA services? Autism evaluations at C&FD

To obtain authorization for Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) services, many funding sources require an evaluation from a doctoral psychologist.  Four psychologists at Child and Family Development are autism experts and offer ASD evaluations to rule in or out the diagnosis.

  • Chris Vrabel PsyD

Our psychology team is credentialed with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) and Healthgram.  We file to most other insurance plans on an out-of-network basis. For out-of-network plans, we can assist families in exploring single case agreements for in-network status with their plan.

Our psychologists provide comprehensive and timely assessment and treatment for families seeking a diagnosis and support.

Our evaluations begin with a parent interview and include intellectual testing, formal assessment of social and communication skills (using a test such as the ADOS-2) and behavioral questionnaires that are completed by parents and teachers. During the Interpretive Parent Conference, the results are reviewed and recommendations for therapy, school or community interventions are shared. A written report follows in about 3 weeks.

There is no waiting list for services. Autism Spectrum Disorder evaluations are available at both the Charlotte/Midtown and Pineville offices.

Families may call our offices to get started or a physician can send a Fax Referral Form.
