Speech & Language Milestones: 12-18 month olds

What speech and language skills should my 12-18 month old have?

  • uses simple gestures
  • grows vocabulary to 5-20 words (mostly nouns)
  • begins to understand how to communicate and its importance
  • follows simple directions with visual cues
  • will babble sounds using intonation of an adults voice

Connect with a pediatric speech therapist at Child and Family Development to learn more about development.
