Psychologist, Aleks Liss shares unique parenting tool

Aleksandra Liss, Psy.D. is a psychologist at the Midtown office of Child and Family Development,

She spotted a great piece by Michelle Huggins on Charlotte Parent, highlighting a Charlotte-based organization called Q4KIDZ.  It provides unique conversation starters to enrollees on a daily basis that aim to spark discussion between parents and children.   &nnbsp;

Dr. Liss endorses this approach and suggests some of the benefits for parents may be:

  • Increasing communication can strengthen the parent-child relationship making it more likely that the your child will talk to you about other topics and situations
  • Talking about a neutral topics can help diffuse tension that is created when discussing behavioral problems or other issues between the parent and child
  • Getting to know your child better and  telling them you appreciate their interesting and unique point-of-view provides your child with positive attention, making them less likely to seek out negative attention.
