Occupational therapist recommends Get Wells Maps to help kids

Lindsay Mueller MOT MOTR/L, occupational therapist at the Pineville office of Child and Family Development, is sharing an online resource called Get Well Maps

Get Well Maps are fun, interactive illustrations that visually track medical progress during a hospitalization or medical recoveries.

The designs include starting points and finish lines, along with obstacles and pit stops along the way. There are several themes, including princess, space and trails and the maps may be customized for each person.

Lindsay says these products can help kids conceptualize processes, more than a verbal explanation alone. Thus, Get Well Maps can reduce anxiety and aid in preparation for any event.

The Child and Family Development occupational therapy team of 10 providers offers free phone intakes and screens.
