Marie Arrington MAT NCBT, educational specialist at the Pineville office of Child and Family Development, is leading a special summer reading groups for students with learning disabilities, including a group just for rising 5th and 6th grade girls!

Although Marie does not have a learning disability, school was never a breeze for her and she knows that at around the age of the girls in this club, school can become a lot more difficult, both academically and socially. This particular book club will not only work on improving fluency and building comprehension, but it will also provide a welcoming, warm environment for the girls to talk with other similar-aged girls about their experiences both in school and outside of school. Although every story is different, there often tends  to be a lot of similarities and Marie will help the girls see that they are not alone.

So, please do not hesitate to reach out to Marie to inquire about signing your daughter up for the upcoming book club in July! If the days and times listed do not work with your schedule, Marie is happy to talk with you about arranging one-on-one sessions.

  • Close To Famous by Joan Bauer
  • MON, THU 4-5
  • Dates: 7/17, 7/20, 7/24, 7/27, 7/31, 8/3
