Occupational Therapist supports BIC’s “Fight For Your Write” campaign

Melissa Petcu, M.S., OTR/L, pediatric occupational therapist at the Midtown office at Child & Family Development, has been keeping up with some exciting efforts in support of the importance of handwriting, especially for children.  Recently, she has been reviewing the media blitz associated with this mission from BIC.  

BIC, a leading manufacturer of writing instruments, introduced , ‚ÄúFight For Your Write‚Äù. ‚ÄúWriting is an essential tool for learning,‚Äù said Pam Allyn, Fight For Your Write spokesperson, literacy advocate, education expert, author and founder of LitWorld, a global organization that advocates for children‚Äôs rights as readers, writers and learners.  ‚ÄúThe practice of writing helps with learning letters and shapes, and can improve idea composition, expression and fine motor-skill development ‚Äì all important foundations for future success.‚Äù  According to Allyn, writing fosters children‚Äôs emotional growth, helps develop critical thinking skills and improves academic achievement.
