Looking for a Social Skills Group for your child? Child and Family Development can help!

The past few months at Child and Family Development, I have been working to fill a need in Charlotte and within our practice.  I have started offering social skills groups for a kids of a variety of ages.  Currently, the people participating in social groups  range in age from 3 years to 18 years old!

Each group is talored to meet the needs of the group participants.  For example, the youngest group (3-4 years) is working on greetings, turn taking, sharing, and using simple power words with peers during play such as “help me”  and “can I have a turn?” all with the support of a clinical Speech Language Pathologist.  The oldest group (13-18 years),  is working on conversational skills, problem solving social situations, and feelings.

Many parents are noticing improved social skills.  Recently, one parent told me that after our lesson on “complimenting”, her adolescent son came downstairs and said, “Hey mom, nice shirt!”.  Success!
