Kids are Talking, Learning, and Playing at Child and Family Development

Posted by: childandfamily

Talk, Learn, Play is a social skills group for 3-5 year olds at Child and Family Development led by me– a Speech Language Pathologist.  Currently, our group has two members and things are going great.

This group meets weekly at the Midtown office in Charlotte and focuses on using language to develop appropriate peer relationships.

At the last meeting, the boys and I practiced greetings, establishing joint attention, requesting, and turn taking all while playing trains, fishing, and potato head!  We used Visual Schedules for the first time.  A visual schedule is a picture representation of upcoming activities. There are many benefits to using a visual schedule.  Visual schedules help to communicate a routine, reduce anxiety, establish clear expectations, and to aid in transitions.  It was a big success with the help of visual schedules!

Our group has room for a few more!  Contact Amy Gossett (agossett@childandfamilydevelopment or 704-332-4834 ext. 122) if you think your child could benefit from Social Skill Development.
