I am excited to announce that the Social Group for Older Boys has officially kicked off at the Midtown office of Child and Family Development. The speech therapy group is for boys who struggle to interact with others easily and appropriately.
Last week, we met for the first time. Currently, the group consists of 3 boys varying in ages from 8 years to 11 years old. The theme of the week was “Getting to know you!” We focused on greeting our new friends, introducing ourselves, and asking and answering introductory questions. Other group activities included a group song, and game! During our game, we practiced turn taking, and giving encouraging words to our friends throughout the game! There were lots of high fives and “Good Jobs!” going around!
The other day, one mom shared that her son talked about his new friends all week!
This group is ongoing, so kids can join at anytime. Families may use insurance benefits or pay privately per session.
I lead this social skills group, so contact me if you want to learn more: Amy Gossett @ 704-332-4834 ext. 122 or firstname.lastname@example.org
