Over the past month, three boys and I have been meeting to work on social skills. Boy, are we having fun!
Recently, we focused on greetings, good sportsmanship, cooperation and compromise, as well as conversational skills. These skills are imperative for kids to develop good peer relationships. These boys have had fun talking about their favorite games, foods, and vacations. We have also learned to play some new games!
Upcoming months will focus on feelings, compliments, friendship, and self confidence.
This week, one of our boys introduced his friends to an Occupational Therapist here. He said, “Hey Miss Abbey, these are my new friends!” Another boy brought in a small gift for each of his friends this week. I couldn’t be prouder!
Currently, we are meeting weekly at the Child and Family Development Midtown office and there is room for a few more friends. If your child would benefit from a social language group, then be in touch: Amy Gossett, MA, CCC-SLP at 7043324834 ext 122or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
